Patricia Apollonia Kotero is an American actress singer and former model. In 1984, she was the female lead in Prince's Purple Rain (during which time she switched her names) as well as replacing Vanity as a member of the female group Vanity 6 singing with them on the screen with the title Apollonia 6. Sex Shooter, the group's minor hit song in the film's soundtrack, was her most chart-topping hit. When the two had a dispute about the direction of her career Apollonia 6 broke up, and Kotero quit her relationship with Prince. Kotero went on to be featured in various minor roles throughout the period (reportedly not wanting to be in her Purple Rain follow-up Under the Cherry Moon) and then landed in the role of a nighttime television drama Falcon Crest during 1985-1986. Apollonia was finally able to launch her debut album in 1988. However, the album failed to leave a lasting impression with music fans and soon faded from the spotlight. In the years following, Apollonia continued to perform as an actress (if somewhat off the radar) and also in a few TV roles, movies and even an exercise film. In 1997 Apollonia made a record in English and Spanish named Stay with me. Later, she returned to the college where she earned a filmmaking degree. Then, she started her own production firm. Apollonia Kotero is famous as a multi-faceted person. A former model, actress and singer and talent manager. As an actress she is famous for her performance in the 1984 film Purple Rain.
